301 Stainless Steel Sheet Metal
The process of creating stainless involves mining chromite from underground mines.
301 stainless steel sheet metal. 301 1 2 hard is an austenitic stainless steel that it has been cold rolled to its 1 2 hard condition. This makes it ideal for applications requiring both formability and tensile strength of 150 000 psi and yield strength of 110 000 psi. In the annealed condition type 301 offers the highest level of stretch formability of any stainless steel and in the heavily cold worked condition offers the highest strength level of any 300 series stainless steel. Type 301 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium nickel stainless steel that when cold worked provides high strength and good ductility.
Grade 301 stainless steel is highly ductile for formed products. The chromite is crushed to produce a chromite concentrate. It also hardens rapidly during mechanical working and has good weldability. 301 provides high strength high ductility and excellent corrosion resistance.
Stainless steel 301 is a commonly available austenitic stainless steel with good corrosion resistance and elevated carbon to allow for cold working to a variety of tempers.
